Low Cost High Volume Mobile Car Washing Versus Auto Detailing Executive Washes

There seems to be several different theories for those that operate mobile car washes and mobile detailing companies. The mobile detailers prefer to go after the wealthier clientele, and hit them with more expensive services such as Executive Washes, and Full Details. The mobile car wash crowd generally offers express detail type service, or mini-detailing, and will give a basic carwash, or a wash and vacuum. Generally the on-site car washes will offer an elevated executive wash, but that is not their target.

I’d like to explain why, and the difference between these two methodologies. On one hand the auto detailers want to go after the top 5 to 10% of the market, they’d like to hit the law firms, and larger corporations servicing the executives, and managers. Those that offer car washes on a mobile basis tend to go after the 99%, washing cars for everyone, even single moms who drive little Honda cars, or little four-cylinder automobiles. There is also another advantage; you don’t have to move around as much if you’re doing everyone’s car, as you do if you are only doing the few wealthy car owners in any given parking lot.

Most of the folks that run the detailing companies that operate on-site disagree with what I’m saying, they say they can make more money per hour if they charge higher prices, and they would rather just do the expensive BMWs, Porsches, Mercedes, and Lexus’. Yes, and they like to talk about the occasional Ferrari, Lamborghini, or Rolls-Royce. Indeed, I say good for them for having that level of high-end clientele, but at the end of the month if we really wish to compare notes, they may not have worked as hard, but they also will not have made as much money.

Now then, I am sure there are detailers who have been in business for a long period of time, specialized in only the upper-class elite, who do make extremely large amounts of money, and don’t necessarily work that hard for it. However, I can tell you for every super high-end successful detailer there are 20 who are barely making it. Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.
